How can I get an appointment?

From September 2023, here at Glebelands we will be offering two different types of appointment.

Pre-bookable in advance 

We are aiming to make at least 50% of appointments available to our patients as pre-bookable 10 minute slots.

These can be used to

  • follow up with a GP
  • book an appointment at a time and date that is convenient to you from your phone/computer

You can request a

You will then receive a text message allowing you to book an appointment up to 6 weeks in advance, giving you the opportunity to schedule an appointment around your other commitments. 

 Book "on-the-day" 

A number of appointments will still be available each weekday for those patients who have not pre-booked and that feel it necessary to see a GP that same day.  These are released at 8am each week day and are only available by calling reception on 020 8989 6272 or via the NHS app (subject to availability).

Please note:  

All appointments are available as face to face or a telephone consultation, but you will need a face to face appointment if your condition or symptom requires you to be physically examined by a GP. 

Any telephone appointments booked for physical conditions or symptoms will be cancelled and you will be advsied to re-book a face to face slot, in order to avoid appointments being wasted unnecessarily.

THE NHS APP

Book an appointment online via The NHS App

The easiest way to book an appointment is by looking for one online. 

To prebook an appointment with a GP online, please download and sign into the NHS app, using the same email and mobile number that you have used to register at the surgery.

Alternatively, click the link below and log into your NHS account with the same email and mobile number that you have used to register at the surgery.

Once you have activated this service, you will be able to book face to face and/or telephone appointments up to a month in advance, order repeat prescriptions, and look at your medical record.

If you are currently using "Patient Access" app/website, we would recommended you switch over to the NHS app, as it has proven to be less problematic.

Medical advice and queries

No appointments left?  You can still get help.

Complete an eConsult for a GP to assess your symptoms and we will get back to you within 48 hours. 

For any medication queries that you may have, that require a GP, nurse or pharmacist input, we would recommend that you follow the link below and complete an online query form. 

General Medication Query Form

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact the team. Your query will then be forwarded on to the relevant clinician for an appropriate response.

Patients often call and ask to speak to a doctor or the nurse by telephone during the working day.  Please note, that this is not always possible, as any consultation with a clinician is considered to be an appointment, so we are not always able to accommodate your request.

For a quick response to a general query or questions, please use the "Contact Us" form and we will get back to you within 24 working hours.

 

 

Need to see a doctor in the evening or at the weekend?

Patients who are registered at this Practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings between 6.30pm and 9.00pm.  

Evening appointments will take place at The Shrubberies Surgery, Lilly House, George Lane South Woodford, E18 1BD.

Appointments with a GP, nurse or physiotherapist are also available on Saturdays between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

Saturday appointments will take place here at Glebelands Practice, 2 Glebelands Avenue, South Woodford, E18 2AB.

If you require an urgent GP appointment on Sundays & Bank Holidays, please call between 09:00 – 16:00 to be seen at Loxford Poly Clinic, Ilford Lane, IG1 2SN

Cancel an Appointment

Appointments are a valuable resource and if you cannot make an appointment you must let us know as soon as possible.  We monitor non-attendance and if there are 3 missed appointments within a year, you may be asked to register with another practice.

We appreciate that plans do not always go according to plan.  However, if you need to cancel your appointment on the day, please try to let us know at least 2 hours ahead of time, or as soon as possible, so that we can offer another patient that slot.

NHS Friends and Family

Home Visits

Please note; At present, all home visits are being conducted by The Community Paramedic Team.

If possible, please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.

Your GP will only arrange a visit for you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you self refer or are referred by your GP.

You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby, or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Training and Teaching

This is a training practice and registrars are here for a period of 6 or 12 months to complete their qualifications as GPs.
